The hardest part about being a passionate leader is the amount of work that goes into it. Now I don’t mean that “OMG I have to work” type work, but rather I use the word from a literal sense; physical exertion that takes up energy. Now that I’ve tapped in to my right brain my mind flows with amazing ideas, and the biggest task of all becomes bringing them to life. From blog posts, to #GameOn Leadership business development, to marketing ideas, to...

Well if I was writing this a year ago, I sure hope I wrote that you shouldn’t of come to me. I was one of the biggest chicken’s alive (ok a bit extravagant but still). I used to avoid any form of conflict, pimp off difficult situations to those I worked with (sorry JT), and worst of all lied about how confident I was in myself and what I did. I was all about the show, not so much the substance. Why am I telling you all this? Because it’s the exact reason...

training
All my life I wanted to be an overnight success. I wanted to go to sleep and wake up the next morning bathing in the glory of stardom. Oh how great it would be… oh how stupid I was. To give a super odd analogy, becoming an overnight success is like a mother giving birth to a 40 year old. Told you it was odd, but check it out… ok so first off stating the obvious this is unrealistic; however, even if it were realistic there are flaws. First off, the 40 year old...

Am I the only one, or does it feel that our generation has been trained to believe that success exists in some distant future? When we were, kids we were told that one day we can be successful… that one day we will become something that will define us as a success. So we race through life, chasing down this so called ‘success’. But when you stop and think about it, does that really make sense? I mean when you look at ‘successful’ people, they aren’t the ones who...

Over the past few months I’ve had the pleasure of talking to some incredibly successful people. People who have done so many amazing things with their life (Remember in my eyes “Success is something that can’t be robbed.”). One of the things that I’ve noticed as a trend for successful people is that they usually suffered before reaping the rewards of success. Whether it be living in poverty or coming to Canada with nothing and having to shovel...

lotto
Last week I had the… duty… of getting people to sign up for a contest at the Autoshow. As tedious as it was it was a really interesting experience. The mission at hand was to let people know about the contest going on and get them to fill out a ballot. As I went through the experience I couldn’t help to think about how it relates to life and leadership (my brain is now wired to think from that perspective). Many of us live life as if it were a lottery....

10, 000 hours = 3 hours/day x 10 years. That’s a long time aint it! Well what if I told you, researchers have found that 10k hrs is the minimum amount of time it takes to achieve ‘success’ at something. Is this true? Let’s find out… I recently came across this concept through my good friend Anthony’s blog. I keep hearing about this 10,000 hour rule. 10k hours invested into a particular cognitively complex activity/area or skill is what it takes to become...
