Looking back at my past few posts I realize they are quite “engineer-esque.” I have a highly analytical mind and tend to process things in terms of frameworks and formulas. My creativity tends to come out when I have a structure to work within.
At the same time I understand this makes it very easy for these posts to be misinterpreted so I just want to address some of those potential misinterpretations…
1) I’m not trying to invalidate feelings
It may seem that I’m trying to cover up feelings with fancy arrows and boxes in my post on 8 Steps To ‘Letting Go’, but that’s far from what I intended. Feelings are feelings; they’re what we feel. Like I mentioned in the post, if we could have a magic recipe that got rid of feeling sick, well … you get my point.
What I’ve posted there is techniques to get your mind past your feelings and regain focus on your priorities and objectives in life. To remain in ‘leadership mode.‘ It’s to give you some quick ‘medicine’ when you feel those feelings creeping up, trying to distract you. Trust me, ever since writing that post I still encounter feelings for the person I was referring to. While the 8 steps don’t always immediately make me feel good, they do give me a great reminder of how to think about the situation and move my thinking onto more productive areas. As a friend pointed out today, it’s meant to help you use your mind as a tool and not let it rule you and keep you small.
2) These posts may not resonate with you
Something I used to do in the past is when I didn’t relate to something, I would pin it as ‘wrong’ and do whatever it takes to prove the concept wrong. Really what I was trying to do is defend why I was ‘right’ in not understanding it. (Notice the ridic flaws of right vs. wrong mentality)
It’s important to know that all I post are perspectives on how I see the world. I try to formulate them in a way to help others see them too, but am well aware not everyone relates nor learns in the same way. For some of you, this might seem like gibberish and if so I encourage you to explore the net for other blogs/articles that express similar concepts. Who knows what you’ll come across!
3) None of this stuff is right nor wrong, nor am I any better for knowing it
I talk a fair bit about ‘wisdom’ and stuff, but I really want to make clear that first what I post really is just a perspective. It’s a view I’m giving that I believe has the ability to work in helping myself and others understand complex leadership issues. Some may argue what I’ve written, and well I invite it! Your perspective will allow us to really collaborate and build better knowledge, get more creative, and develop very cool wisdom. Like I mentioned, we all have the ability to get wisdom, it just comes down to how bad you want it.
Also please know not once has it crossed my mind that I’m ‘better’ than anybody else. Look we all have different games to play in life, I’ve just had more practice in mine. I’ve met so many people this past month with incredible knowledge/wisdom that I’ve learned from, because that’s their game and they’ve all the hard work in understanding it all. When we realize we all have different stories, and that each of the stories gives us unique opportunities to discover our passion, logic should go that all those passions are unique as well. I’ll be writing a post about the pitfalls of comparison soon.
Finally thanks to EVERYONE who takes the time to read this blog. It really means a lot to know you are interested and I admire each and every one of you for being willing to hear what I’ve come to know/see. As you’ll notice once #GameOn Leadership kicks off, I’ll be encouraging you all set up something like a blog to share wisdom in your field of passion.
Let’s keep shaking reality

Imagine you could change the world with 2 words. Well you can, and it's simply your name. Your name not only defines you, but it represents YOUR thoughts and interests... thoughts that lead to actions, and interests that drive passion... it's these very elements that shape the world we see today. We are all part of this; each and every one of us in our own unique way. What you are about to read is a collection of my thoughts and interests... my attempts to change the world...
