So the other day, after having it recommended to me a number of times, I finally plunged into “The Alchemist.” To say I’m enjoying it would be an understatement; to find a book that relates so much to my life right now is pretty incredible, and well kind of scary at the same time. As Paulo Coelho (No we’re not technically related, although I’m starting to think we are!!) follows the journey of a boy who embarks on the search for his destiny, there are many messages and quotes that really resonated with me. However, there was one in particular that really stuck in my mind,
“When you want something, all the world conspires in helping you achieve it.”
Now back in March, before my health took a dive, I decided to pursue something I’ve always wanted; a job back in Canada that I will love. A job that encompassed all my passions, and gave me the opportunity to capitalize on my strengths while understanding my weaknesses. With my passion for adventure, people, fun, and energy, being first and foremost… there’s no need to explain why GAP Adventures was at the top of my list. I uniquely crafted a resume that I thought represented my creativity and personality best, and sent it to them in hopes to make this dream a reality. With 6 months still to go in Ghana at that time, it was unlikely to receive any certainty on a job, but at least I knew my CV was now on file.
A few days ago, on the same day I read the line “When you want something, all the world conspires in helping you achieve it,” my mom sent me an email letting me know of a contest that was launched to become GAP Adventures ‘Coolest Travel Intern’! Coincidence? I think not. Luck? No way. As the book would say, it was an ‘omen’… a sign that maybe this is all part of my destiny.
The ‘Coolest Travel Intern’ contest was launched by the CEO of GAP Adventures himself, Bruce Poon. His fascinating biography depicts how, despite numerous challenges and obstacles, he managed to turn his vision of letting people experience adventure in a responsible and sustainable manner, to a reality; from a one-man show into the world’s largest adventure travel company with over 700 employees. The job, which is too good to be officially described, will have the intern getting a taste of everything GAP Adventures has to offer. They’re looking for easy going, smart and ‘up for anything’ people, who must love to change people’s lives and enjoy making a difference… common now, how couldn’t I apply!?!?
So living life as I always do, NOW… No Opportunity Wasted… I got to work and put together the best possible application I could do with what I had, from where I was, and in the time I had. Below is my video application for Bruce & GAP Adventures, expressing why I believe I would be perfect for the position and why they CAN’T go another day without me… well at least a few more days until I get back in November! (The application is dedicated to my parents who always push me to do more and become more, and who support me every step of the way!)

Imagine you could change the world with 2 words. Well you can, and it's simply your name. Your name not only defines you, but it represents YOUR thoughts and interests... thoughts that lead to actions, and interests that drive passion... it's these very elements that shape the world we see today. We are all part of this; each and every one of us in our own unique way. What you are about to read is a collection of my thoughts and interests... my attempts to change the world...
