C2C From Sea To Sea!

Now it only makes sense that the 365 C2C should live up to its acronym and well… happen from sea to sea! Here are a couple of the goals being set here in Ghana by some of my all-star AEAs…

George is one of the longest serving AEAs here in Bongo (You’ll learn more about the great things he’s doing with AAB soon time!). A couple of weeks ago when we met at the office before a farmer group meeting, he sat down beside me and said he’d like to show me his goals for the year (I guess the PDP training did work)! Happily surprised, I eagerly listened to what George has planned for 2009…

  • Disseminate donor technologies using his own expertise
    • Basically this means George is hoping to use his expertise in agriculture to help farmers make use of technologies that are made available by different donors.
  • Coach Farmer Groups
  • Link farmer groups up with opportunities (ex. NRGP)

IMG_0510Cosmas is another dedicated & hard-working AEA that has some big plans for 2009…

  • Expand AAE curriculum to all 8 of his sub-operational areas (currently doing 2)
  • Build a house for his family

What’s incredible about the first goal for Cosmas, is that he has to do this all by one means of transportation… a bicycle. You’ve seen some of the rough terrain I’ve ridden on; now just imagine riding a bike in 40+ weather to sub-operational areas which are over 20 kms away from each other! He does not have the advantage of the motorbike and no real incentive to spread the program; it’s his shear hard-working attitude in the face of adversity, that symbolizes the true spirit of this Challenge 2 Change!
